I just wanted to take a minute and give you a little
background about my fishing experience.
I grew up in St. Louis fishing for Bass until I was teenager.
Then I found other interests and stopped fishing.
After I first got married, I went out a few times, but
never found the passion for it like I once had. I didn't
pick it up again till a few years ago when a friend of
mine Troy, asked me to go on a fly in fishing trip to
Northern Ontario for Pike and Walleye.
In preparing for the trip, I read various websites, books,
and talked to my friend Troy. I wanted to learn as much
as I could. I got frustrated with many of the websites
out there because everyone assumes you know something
about fishing. I read a few books and learned a ton! But
I learned the most from Troy. I found myself asking him
all the questions that I asked when I fishing as a youngster.
Such things like what rod and reel to use, superline Vs.
Mono, tactics etc. We spent hours discussing fishing.
Not only did I listen to Troy's advice, but I researched
things on my own. The reseach I'd done spawned more questions
and converstations about fishing. It is out of those conversations
that getstartedfishing.com was born.
There are many good sites out there about fishing. I
want to say that I also learned an awful lot from Steve
Huber of Outdoorfrontiers.com.
He was and still is a great help! He is able to answer
all my questions. I feel I've gotten to know Steve and
can't thank him enough for all his help!
This website is a summary of the conversations with Troy,
research I've done and my own personal experience.
